Our move into the Milestone
Kern AG moves into its new location, Milestone 5b, at Heinrich-von-Stephan-Strasse 15 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany's sunniest city. In the future, we will enjoy our daily work here in the modern office building with a unique view over the roofs of the city.
One of the special features of the new work spaces is that all rooms are very bright thanks to the many glass elements and offer a breathtaking view from Freiburg Cathedral to the Black Forest and the Kaiserstuhl. In addition, the glass foiling in the office immediately catches the eye: White waves decorate our rooms. On the one hand, this represents the data streams and the connections to each other, but if you look closer, you can see the skyline of the Black Forest in them. Our spacious kitchen and collaboration area invites future internal, and especially external events, such as the Compass.
Our CEO, Eckhard Moos, describes the move to the new space as follows:
"Every move to larger premises brings new challenges, because without opportunities you don't face the expensive move, the higher costs, the new processes. In addition to this entrepreneurial challenge, we were faced with a second very big challenge: We now work in an absolute top location: surrounded by greenery, yet central; short distances, super public transport connections, but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle; in beautiful rooms with great equipment; good neighborhood, professional partners. Under these almost ideal conditions, strong arguments, not just economic ones, had to be made to convince us to make the switch. - The team from STRABAG Freiburg got involved with our situation and ideas; they provided the personalities, the arguments and the perspective - in short, they convinced."
The rooms in Wentzingerstrasse already bore names of various islands: Ceylon, Fiji, Java, Madagascar, Maui, Tobago. So it was obvious that we would continue the idea of taking names off the map in the Milestone. For the fifth floor it has become South America, with almost all the countries of this continent. The coffee kitchen, for example, is called Colombia because, according to a Colombian colleague, the best coffee in the world comes from Colombia.
The move into the new offices also allows more employees to work on site again due to the Corona guidelines - so we are very much looking forward to working and settling in together and to welcoming you to our premises soon as well.
